Cybersecurity in life and death: Examining implanted and interconnected medical technologies through the lens of patient care

The talk will focus on issues of cybersecurity in patient care through the lens of clinical consequences. Several case examples will be discussed including malfunctioning deep brain stimulators and compromised drug-delivery systems. The talk will provide an overview of current research occurring at the intersection of patient care, cybersecurity and medical education. Topics will include digital autopsies, deaths on the cloud, the safeguarding of patients at risk of abuse, and the clinical management of technological exploits and failures.
